This site is dedicated to early flying machines. 2003 has
been chosen to be year of a "Century of Flight" in celebration of the Wright
Brothers flight in 1903. Before that many pioneers toiled to make the
heavier than air fly. Jean Marie Le Bris flew, as early as 1856, in a glider
towed by a horse cart, in 1890, Clement Ader flew on a distance of 50m with
a steam engine driven plane while Otto Lilienthal was studying aerodynamics
with gliders. Along with many others, they paved the (run)way for the future
of air travel.
Some of these early machines have been saved to be displayed
in Museum, some originals are still flying, enthusiasts build replicas of
rare machines and fly them for our enjoyment. Here are a few pictures shot
at Le Bourget Air Museum - France, Omaka 2003 Air Show - New Zealand and Cerny
2003 Fête Aérienne - France.
